Kids Making a Difference: Jahkil Naeem Jackson, Founder of Project i AM

Jahkil Jackson

Jahkil is on a mission to build awareness of homelessness and to help the homeless population by offering them what he calls “Blessing Bags,” a giveaway filled with wipes, socks, deodorant, hand sanitizer, granola bars, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bottled water, and more. In just a few years, Jahkil’s efforts have touched over 20,000 men, women and children across the world. Jahkil has organized distribution to those in need in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Virginia and Idaho. He has also provided Blessing Bags to orphans in Mbabane, Swaziland, as well as volcano victims in Guatemala, and hurricane survivors in Florida, Houston and Puerto Rico. Jahkil was acknowledged as one of three influential people of 2017 by President Barack Obama and the Obama Foundation.

We are thrilled to have Jahkil as our Wonder Crate Kid of the Month for August and ask him a few questions about making an impact.

1.What positive impact do you hope to have in the world?

I hope to be an important part of demolishing homelessness. I also hope that I have a lasting impact on young people so that they can also want to be involved in their community and be leaders.

2. How are you doing it?

I do this with my organization Project I Am which builds awareness of homelessness and also provides blessing bags of daily essentials like soap, socks, water, granola bars, toothpaste, tooth brushes, tissue, soap, etc. I also do a lot of public and motivational speaking for youth across the country to encourage them. I always say “Don’t Wait To Be Great!”

3. What skills have you used along the way?

Compassion, empathy, bravery and confidence.

Learn more about Jahkil, watch his video and discover how you can find your amazing at Wonder Crate. A portion of sales from our August box will go to Project I Am to provide Blessing Bags for the homeless. Read all about Frank Lloyd and then use your creativity to design your own dream house. Who they see, shows them who they can be!
