“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” -Fred Rogers
My own kids were feeling helpless and anxious about things happening in the world around them. I decided to show them all the amazing people that were using their courage, perseverance and passion to make the world a better place. I will never forget taking them to their first march and showing them that a group of passionate people can make a difference. What an empowering experience! Once they started focusing on the “helpers’ their anxiety started to fade away.
And now I want to share these stories with the rest of the world. I want all kids to know that they can make an impact. Each child has his or her own amazing that they can contribute to the world. And together we can build a generation of well rounded contributors of social good.
